Thrisa Phillips Jimmy MSW, LSWAIC
Thank you so much for taking your time to explore Coastal Canvas Counseling. This has been a deeply personal journey for me as I have worked my entire adult life to come back home and serve my communities at large. I use a multi-cultural and holistic lens to my work while weaving in evidence-based and experiential approaches. My core value in my work is guiding the people I sit with to recognize and embrace their own inner strength. Many times, we hear “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” or “hard times make you stronger”. In reality, that strength has always been a part of you. You were born with that strength. Through the trauma, stressors, or life transitions, you may have learned tools to use that strength to survive, overcome or create but that strength has always been with you. Sometimes, the tools you have picked up are no longer serving you. Perhaps they have even brought distress to you or others that you love. Our minds are amazing and capable of change, including picking up new tools and walking away from others that no longer serve us. This is your journey and I’m the fancy historian that is privileged to witness and support it!
